Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply and Sanitation
The Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) for Water Supply and Sanitation by WHO and UNICEF〔WHO and UNICEF (JMP website homepage ), WHO, Geneva and UNICEF, New York, accessed on June 10, 2012〕 is the official United Nations mechanism tasked with monitoring progress towards the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) relating to drinking water and sanitation (MDG 7, Target 7c), which is to: "Halve, by 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking-water and basic sanitation".〔United Nations:(World Water Assessment Program ), accessed on February 27, 2010〕
